Just a sample of a
successful hike
with a mandolin.
What you see here
is a tired old guy
with his sturdy
Weber Sweetpea
somewhere 4 days
along the John Muir
Trail in the Sierra
Nevada Mountains
with a wondrous
backdrop of
Thousand Island
Lake (east end) at
about 9850 feet
above sea level.
The Sweetpea played
a Scottish tune to
John Muir on Muir
pass and had a
thing or two to
say atop Mt.
Whitney.
Altogether it
traveled about 240
miles from Yosemite
Valley to Whitney
Portal, crossing
10 or 12 passes and
circumnavigating a
zillion glacier
carved lakes in 12
days. It sang to
flowers and marmots
and picas and two
very determined
trekkers on their
way to heaven in
the "Mountains of
Light" (as John
Muir called them).
I have a few nice
mandolin pictures
to share with you.
Its a small way
for me to say
thank you to all
the folks at Sound
To Earth, Inc.
who make music
from trees and
helped me find a
bit more of myself
before the end of
this hiking
expedition.
