I took up mandolin playing
about 10 years ago primarily to help
improve my intonation on the violin
and viola - then my first instruments.
Over the years I began playing the
mandolin more often in my group
"A'Chording to Tradition", where
I played fiddle. At the beginning of this
year I began playing with the newly
formed Dayton Mandolin Orchestra
under the direction of Allen Richmond.
http://www.daytonmandolin.net The
repertoire spans several musical genre
from classical to modern - Bach to the Beetles
:-)
Its both challenging and fun at the same time.
I have also introduced mandolin playing
to a few interested Suzuki violin students
hoping to help spawn the new generation....
I now consider the mandolin my 1st instrument
and also play a 1996 F5 signed by Bruce Weber -
my first good mandolin.
Cheers,
Roger
