My name is Larry Adams, and I play Bluegrass Gospel music. I had played
over 10 years in a local gospel group, but I am now currently playing in
church and with friends and relatives when we get together.
I started playing guitar in 1986 at the age of 36, but got interested in
the mandolin a couple of years later. Now, during the last few years
I have owned more mandolins than I care to mention, but was always looking
for the one that I thought would have it all. Good
Friday, 2003, I took a trip to First Quality Music Supply in Louisville,
KY. Knowing of the fine handmade mandolins they had in stock, my
dream was to come home with that special instrument. I arrived at
10:30 AM and began to play every mandolin in the showroom. I played
some of the biggest names in mandolins, and placed each & every one back
on the display wall except for one that after 5 hours had out-played and
out-sounded every single other. I was holding a Weber Big Sky in my
hand. As I left Louisville and started north towards
home, my friend Ivan Sharp who had driven down that day and was also
looking for the perfect mandolin, looked over at me and said (and I
quote), "Larry, you bought the best mandolin they had. It's a
professional mandolin all the way. If you had put it down, I would
own it now." -Larry Adams-
Ps He likes coming over to play it |
