Hello to the nice people behind the Weber mandolins... I was emailing
with Mary earlier this year and I thought I would email back and say that
it all worked out wonderfully. I had a good correspondence and finally a
long phone conversation with Mike MacLeod of Calgary, your closest
Canadian dealer. He was most helpful in narrowing down the choices to
arrive at my ultimate mandolin, and you may have noticed the order for the
left-handed Beartooth Traditional going to Calgary.
It's a beauty, and I have been getting compliments on its tone. It arrived
just in time to take it to AMGuSS in Rhode Island. This year there
happened to be another lefty there, who was thrilled to get his hands on
it for a minute. (As I was when I met Kevin from the Montana Mandolin
Society last year at CMSA and he let me hold his Weber mandolin.)
This is a photo taken on the first weekend I took the new baby out on our
boat. I always play when we're at anchor. We had three weeks on the boat
this summer, and I played almost every day.
I also got a Sweet Pea, to leave on the boat for those two-day weekends to
save lugging a mando back and forth, but of course it will come home when
the weather gets cooler. It's sure compact and easy to stow or to take
traveling, but will never take the place of a full-size one. But I won't
ever need to be without an instrument!
Thank you again for your kind advice at the start of the buying process,
and for providing me with the dealer name that turned out to be just what
it took to finish the job. If you're coming to CMSA this fall, I'll be
happy to say hi in person.
Best regards from Burnaby, British Columbia.
